Reisebericht Huasteca Potosina
Huasteca Potosina, San Luis Potosi - Mexico

The British aristocrat and millionaire Sir Edward James built this garden with its surrealistic concrete structures entwined by the jungle vegetation, in midst of an idyllic rainforest called Las Pozas or El Castillo del Ingles as the locals say, close to the village of Xilitla.

Sótano de las Golondrinas

Vertical wall of Sotano de las Golondrinas

Sotano de las Golondrinas, the Cave of Swallows, with its depth of between 330 m and 370 m, is one of the world’s deepest pit caves. Thousands of swifts (birds similar to swallows) and parrots live in the niches of the vertical walls and offer an unusual spectacle when they circle around the entrance of the cave.

Cascadas de Micos

The waterfalls of Micos are like a set of stairs where the river Tamasopo gradually makes its way down. Several natural pools are perfect for swimming.

Tamasopo

One of the waterfalls around Tamasopo

The ancient Aztecs called this place "Tam-Azote", Place of Waterfalls and yes you guessed correctly, there are several waterfalls and small lagoons around the lovely village of Tamasopo.

El Puente de Dios de San Luis Potosi

Huasteca Potosina, San Luis Potosi - Puente de Dios

El Puente de Dios, one of the biggest attractions in the Huasteca Potosina in the state of San Luis Potosi, is a natural bridge or tunnel with an incredibly nice lagoon where waterfalls pour down on all sides.

Cascada de Tamul

  Tamul Waterfall

The Rio Gallinas forms the spectacular Tamul Waterfall that crashes down from a height of 105 m on the Rio Tampaon. In the rainy season the breadth of the waterfall can be up to 300 m.
